Timo is a digital artist, live coder, drummer and music technology educator from the Netherlands. He livecodes electronic music and develops algorithmic audiovisual compositions and installations. Timo graduated from the Masters of Music at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2019, where he developed the livecoding tool Mercury. He organizes meetups, workshops and algoraves as part of Netherlands Coding Live. He teaches creative coding at HKU Music Technology and Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Timo Hoogland is a digital artist, live coder, drummer and music technology educator from the Netherlands. He livecodes experimental electronic dance music and develops generative audiovisual compositions, installations and performances inspired by his fascination for mathematics, science and nature. Timo studied the bacholor of Audio Design and graduated from the Masters of Music Design at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2019, where he developed the livecoding environment Mercury. The project ./drum.code premiered during the Ars Electronica garden in Lugano (CH) 2021, a performance combining drums, live coding and machine learning. In 2022 he released PRISM at Beyond Quantum Music in Belgrade (RS). He build site-specific av-works at the Uncloud Festival 2020 and during Vonk Festival 2021. In 2023 the live coding installation .abstraction() was exhibited, commissioned by CODA Museum. During Gaudeamus Muziekweek he premiered the piece Morph with Rafaele Andrade, combining drums, live electronics and hybrid cello. He is currently collaborating with Lina Bautista as Damage Such, with Saskia Freeke as Amalgam and with Rafaele Andrade in Morph. He has worked on various audiovisual performances together with artists such as Marieke Verbiezen, Gerri Jäger, Monodeer, Evelien van den Broek, Anne Le Berge and Anne Veinberg. Timo has performed at various events and festivals such as AMRO, ICLC, ADE, Gogbot, Tec-Art, Ars Electronica Garden, Overkill, Digital Arts Zurich, Gaudeamus Muziekweek and AIMC. As an educator he teaches creative system and sound design at the HKU Bachelor of Music Technology.
